What's it all about
Rooted in Ayurveda and Yoga, receiving a Thai massage is similar to going to a Yoga class but it is all done for you! It is a type of body work that involves stretching and deep massage. This is usually performed on a futon or a firm mattress and the client wears comfortable clothes to allow for movement.
As a receiver your body will be put in many Yoga-like positions. The practitioner uses her body weight to apply firm and rhythmic pressure generally following the Sen lines of the body, which are similar to the meridians in Chinese medicine and the Nadis in Ayurveda. Together these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically.
Thai Yoga Massage or Naud Boran translates to ‘Ancient Massage’ and can be traced back 2,500 years to the founder Dr. Shivago Komarpaj (Jvaka Komarabhcca), an Ayurvedic doctor, friend and contemporary of Siddhartha Gautama – or, better known as Buddha.
